GSU to patrol volatile border

The government has deployed more than 300 GSU officers to help restore peace among clashing communities along the Nandi-Kisumu border. Elders are also engaged in dialogue to help restore peace along the border, where two people were killed and 10 houses torched last week. Nandi Governor Cleophas Lagat and Senator Stephen Sang said they will dialogue as leaders to help restore peace among the communities. At the same time, the Rift Valley Council of Elders wants the government to restore peace along the Nandi-Kisumu border and in the Kerio Valley, where communities have clashed over cattle theft. Nandi county commissioner Lucy Mulili said calm has returned and adequate security officers deployed to ensure business and other operations resume.
