Three people have died after a fire broke out in a home in Saint-Siméon, on the Baie-des-Chaleurs in the Gaspé region. "We weren't able to go inside because it would have been too dangerous for our guys," said Poirier. One person was able to escape the fire and was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The mayor of Saint-Siméon, Denis Gauthier, said the community of 1,200 people is "in shock." Social workers with the local health centre have been called in to ensure psychological support is available to those who might need it.
