How We Survive: A Feminist Poetry Show, Olivia Hall and Carrie Rudzinski, The Dark Room, Palmerston North, October 2. That's one thread of this rewarding performance poetry presentation, as self-confessed Harry Potter geeks and Slytherins, overseas-based Kiwi Olivia Hall and New Zealand resident American Carrie Rudzinski, proclaim their poetic feminist manifesto. As for Harry Potter, it was Hermione and her feminist wizardry in the first book that saved the day, ensuring the continuation of the series. In one poem, Rudzinski offers common sense as the very definition of feminism. Defying primarily male-based feminist preconceptions, Hall and Rudzinski are personable, funny, honest and emotionally engaging.
