Fuel taxes in France have broadly risen in 2018 by around 16%. For example, last year, five private power plants in Bangladesh were allowed to import fuel oil without taxes being levied on them. It’s common news that the US -- one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions -- pulled out of the Paris Agreement last year. China and the US, who, as per a Yale environment report, contribute close to 45% of the global carbon emissions, have only increased their emissions in the past year. Perhaps this is the time for us to salute the gilets jaunes in giving a revolutionary answer to the carbon tax brigade.
