Maruf Morshed Pralay, leader of Swechchhasebak League’s Shahjanpur unit in Bogra, asked Rakibul Hasan Hridoy, a twelfth grader in Government Shah Sultan College, to fetch him a cigarette near the college premises. When Hridoy refused to do so, Pralay stabbed him on his chest and fled the scene, the OC said. Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Bogra Awami League (South) leader Shahidul Islam Bappi said Pralay was just a member of Swechchhasebak League – not a leader. “Action will be taken against him if he is found responsible for the student’s death,” he added.
