According to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Trust for America’s Health, public health spending was 10% lower in 2013 than in 2009, and is below pre-recession levels. In 2015, Illinois announced their Public Health Department would no longer provide STD testing for local health departments and suggested they turn to private labs. We now have gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia showing enough resistance that WHO had to release new treatment guidelines⁠.
