The Telangana Government will institute awards for websites adhering to guidelines prescribed by the Centre as well as other best practices laid down by standards bodies, Principal Secretary IT Jayesh Ranjan said here on Tuesday. The senior official said that this highlighting the role of websites had come to assume importance as face of the institution. “In modern times, websites are the face of the Government,” he said, addressing a workshop on ‘Making government websites discoverable and mobile-friendly’. A release on the workshop said Director, Digital Media, Dileep Konatham, outlined the importance of making government websites mobile and search engine-friendly. The Department has taken up GIGW Compliance Project that aimed to make all the government and its constituents’ websites user-friendly.
