Mr. Mehta named Chief Engineer (Roads) Vinod Chithore and Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Improvements) Chandrashekar Chore to investigate the causes. It is true that it is mandatory for every building [over] 30 years old to conduct a structural audit. I have been told that the Society Bylaws mandate that the structural audit is carried out after every five years. Any modifications to a building must be supervised by a structural engineer who certifies that the changes have not compromised the safety of the building and followed up by the structural audit.”
