The eponym of Taman Connaught in Cheras may have been a province in Ireland, a kingdom that collapsed in the 1230s, or Queen Victoria’s grandson, Prince Arthur of Connaught. However, that was not quite the scene for Taman Connaught before the residents association was formed in 2011. “Car thefts, snatch thefts, break-ins, you name it. At one point, there were always a few cases of snatch thefts targeting women returning from the morning market. “All these cases prompted us to form the association so that we could apply for the gated-and- guarded scheme,” said Taman Connaught Phase Two Residents’ Association secretary Lee Chean Chian.
