Major market indicators were mostly in the red during late morning trading. Toronto’s S&P/TSX index was down 3.99 points at 14,691.69. The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 25.65 points to 18,572.05, while the broader S&P 500 composite index declined 4.66 points to 2,182.36. The Canadian dollar was at 77.62 cents U.S., losing 0.73 of a cent from Thursday’s close. The September crude contract was down 10 cents at $48.12 (U.S.) per barrel and October natural gas declined 8.5 cents at $2.63 (U.S.) per mmBTU.
