Meanwhile, the government was considering to import about 3 to 5 lakh metric tonne of sugar to check speculative rise in in sugar prices and ensure ample availability of stocks in the market. Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 plunged by Rs 100 each during the week to finish at Rs 4,000-4,100 and Rs 3,990-4,090 per quintal. Likewise, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices dropped by Rs 60 each to end the week at Rs 3,650-3,840 and Rs 3,640-3,830 per quintal, respectively. In mill gate section, Sugar Asmoli dipped the most by Rs 80 to Rs 3,750, followed by Khatuli slide by Rs 75 to Rs 3,775, while Dhampur and Nazibabad slipped by Rs 70 each to Rs 3,690 and Rs 3,650 per quintal. Sugar Sakoti slackened by Rs 50 to Rs 3,690, while Dhanora, Shamili and Chandpur moved down by Rs 40 each to Rs 3,740, Rs 3,700 and Rs 3,690 per quintal.
