Last week, Delhi's power demand reached an all-time high of 6,526 MW. "The power cuts in our area continue for three-four hours. Power theft in unauthorised colonies impacts supply in adjoining planned colonies also," said a senior government official. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal, recently approved a proposal made by the Delhi government to penalise discoms for power cuts. As per the plan, discoms will compensate the general public for unscheduled power cuts in the city.
