These include the proposed development of over 10,000 affordable housing units available to both civil servants and the general public. There are currently 80,000 proposed housing units for the armed forces. A Chinese firm has partnered with the government to fund housing development in order to bridge the current shortfall of over 200,000 units. Transport CS James Macharia who is currently in China, held talks with China-Africa Development Fund management. CADfund has been working with Kenyan housing developer Suraya to develop housing projects in the country.
