South Norfolk Council has launched a new scheme allowing residents to book free kerbside collections of small electrical items. Research by Recycle Your Electricals shows UK households store on average 30 unwanted electrical items each with 39 per cent of people throwing them away rather than recycling or reusing them. The new scheme aims to make it easier to repair, donate or recycle these items to help reduce e-waste and its environmental impact. Residents can also find their nearest electrical recycling point at www.recycleyourelectricals.org.uk.
