South Africa’s development corporation seeks to invest in Kenyan SMEs


South Africa's Industrial Development Corporation is set to broaden its footprint in the Kenyan market after partnering with the Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation of Kenya. The venture capital firm with involved in local projects such as the Lake Turkana Wind Power Project and Kibos Sugar in Kisumu, is intent on financing Kenya's SME's with emphasis on the film industry,mining, tourism and agro-processing sectors. "Kenya is at the moment experiencing substantial growth across different sectors and key are the small and medium enterprises that are emerging. Many of these are looking for financing either through credit or equity financing. We are hoping that we can work closely with ICDC to enhance the institution's capacity to lend to these businesses as well as offer them advisory services," said IDC's Eric Sithole.
