KOTA KINABALU: A soldier has been arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend of four months and raping her in a Lahad Datu hotel. He is said to have texted and asked the 21-year-old victim to meet him near her workplace at a shopping mall in Kota Kina­balu around 6.30pm on Dec 17. It is believed that upon meeting up, the soldier brought her to the Inanam bus station by taxi and bought tickets to Lahad Datu. Lahad Datu police chief Asst Comm Nasri Mansor said the victim begged the man to let her go but he apparently punched her multiple times and slapped her. He said when they reached Lahad Datu, the suspect took the woman to a hotel where he forced her to have sex with him.
