BESUT: The MyOnline Passport application introduced by the Immigration Department last year for passport renewal has received lukewarm response, says Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali. He said until this month, there were only about 10,000 applications received through the online system out of the 2.5 million applications received by the department a year. “Hence, we need to educate the public to use the online system. “Although it will take three days to process, it helps to reduce congestion at the immigration offices, especially during school holidays. “When applying online, the applicants only need to come to the Immigration office and wait for 10 to 15 minutes for verification to collect their passports,” he said.
