Malaysian professor wins US immigrant award - Nation


PETALING JAYA: A Malaysian nutritionist in the US has won the Outstanding Immigrant Health Professional Award for 2018. Selangor-born Assoc Prof Dr Jayan­thi Kandiah (pic), who works at Indiana’s Ball State University, received the award for her teaching and research accomplishments. Prof Jayanthi earned her first and postgraduate degrees from the Uni­versity of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she completed her PhD in human nutrition. She did all this while serving as the associate dean for academic affairs for College of Health at Ball State University. Prof Jayanthi is currently conducting nutrition research on children with autism, while also being part of a global team actively engaged with sickle cell research in Kenya.
