New Delhi, Jan. 18: Union minister Smriti Irani had requested Delhi University not to "reveal" her education records to a Right to Information activist, according to a Central Information Commission order that said the information should nevertheless be disclosed. After Tanwar's submission, Acharyulu had directed the School of Open Learning to produce its registers and records relevant to Irani's educational qualifications. The applicant has cited a 2008 order by the commission that held that an individual's educational qualifications belonged to the public domain and such information should therefore be provided if sought. The January 10 order said: "The commission gives another opportunity to Mr O.P Tanwar to represent the explanation before 10.2.2017 at 12.30pm." It added that if Tanwar "chooses not to represent, the commission will be compelled to proceed assuming that there is nothing to explain".
