Liquor compensation chorus

Patna, Jan. 18: Industrialists today demanded the government compensate liquor companies whose units in the state will shut after yesterday's cabinet decision to not renew licences of breweries, distilleries and bottling plants. Bihar ranks lowest in industries in the country, and entrepreneurs feel yesterday's decision will deal a body blow to efforts to woo investments. The government had toyed with the idea of compensation, Agrawal said, and alternative arrangements should be made. Bihar Industries Association president Ram Lal Khetan echoed the compensation call, but added: "Entrepreneurs who want to come will come after evaluating the benefits in the new industrial policy. They will not be influenced by the decision to close down liquor units here."
