KUANTAN: Single mother P. Shoba fought back tears when receiving her late son's degree scroll during convocation ceremony of Universiti Malaysia Pahang’s (UMP) Gambang campus here today. Her son N. Kamalanathan, 23, was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a four-wheel-drive in Kuala Krai, Kelantan on Sept 10. "As he was my only son, I had high hopes on him to change the family's fortunes. Kamalanathan would have been among 2,845 graduates receiving their scrolls at the convocation, which ends on Monday. "When UMP informed me about the convocation, I told them that I could not attend and they immediately made arrangements to make sure I could be present," she said.
