Shot in the arm for Malaria, TB and HIV fight as Kenya gets Sh34 billion from Global Fund


HIV, TB and Malaria programmes in Kenya got a boost following receipt of Sh34.7 billion from the Global Fund. HIV/ Aids programme got the lion’s share of the grant amounting to Sh21.9 billion, fight against tuberculosis will take up Sh6.6 billion while malaria Sh6.2 billion. He noted that the HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria programmes funded by the entity have made significant contribution to meet the international set targets. Muraguri spoke on Thursday when he opened the Kenya coordinating mechanism (KCM) consultative meeting on Global fund grants in Nairobi. The PS further appealed to the county governments to ensure they have statistics especially on births and deaths in order to effectively manage the health systems.
