Several flights delayed and diverted at Mumbai airport due to heavy rains

MUMBAI: At least 11 flights were diverted and several more delayed on Monday evening at the Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and operations temporarily suspended due to heavy rainfall, an airport spokesperson said. Several domestic and international flights were diverted from the Mumbai airport, including United Airway's flight between New York and Mumbai, which was diverted to New Delhi. Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, diverted flight number UK 985 from Delhi to Mumbai to Ahmedabad due to the weather. "There were some debris found in the runway as a result, and the cleaning process is underway," the spokesperson added. The Mumbai airport is equipped with two crossing runways which are called 09/27 and 14/32.
