The University of Canterbury is investigating comments made by senior lecturer Luke Schneider on American question-and-answer website Quora. A University of Canterbury lecturer is under fire after students raised concerns about “insensitive” comments he posted on an online forum. One student at the university, who asked not to be named, said Schneider’s comments were “not OK”. A post detailing Schneider’s comments was posted to the students’ association Facebook page on Tuesday evening, garnering a large student response with many criticising the lecturer. One person said the comment’s lacked “empathy” and discredited the good work of other lecturers within the engineering department.
