'Scared' Sibiya is Ramaphosa's latest special advisor

Jomo Sibiya resigned from his post in the KwaZulu-Natal provincial legislature to take up a powerful position at the Union Buildings as a special advisor to President Cyril Ramaphosa, he has confirmed to News24. The veteran politician's appointment follows February's resignation of Bejani Chauke as an advisor to take up an unpaid job as a volunteer special envoy for strategic relations and investment in the Presidency. It also comes a year after Ramaphosa loyalists known as the Ankoles were defeated by the so-called Taliban faction in the KZN elective conference in July 2022, which led to the reshuffling of the provincial cabinet.
