Saudi Arabia Extends Deadline for Undocumented Ethiopians by One MonthJuly 27, 2017 - Saudi Arabia extended the amnesty for undocumented Ethiopians living in the country by one month, according to the Ethiopian General Consulate in Jeddah. This is the second time the country is extending the deadline set for undocumented migrant workers to leave the country. The consulate urged the Ethiopians to secure exit visas and return home safely as quickly as possible. The decree issued by Saudi Arabia targets migrants with no permanent residence (runaway workers) and residents with expired residence permits. Recent estimates put the number of undocumented Ethiopians that lived in Saudi Arabia, including those who returned during the amnesty period, over 400,000.
