Salempur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 80 parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh and covers parts of Deoria and Ballia districts. Currently represented by Ravindra Kushawaha, this was one of the many seats the BJP won for the first time in 2014. He also holds the record of representing Salempur in Lok Sabha most times, four to be exact. In the seventh phase of Lok Sabha polling, 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh - Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushi Nagar, Deoria, Bansgaon, Ghosi, Salempur, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur and Robertsganj - are going for polls. The counting of votes of the Lok Sabha election 2019 will be conducted on May 23.
