Karl Budge, the man who transformed the ASB Classic tennis tournaments, is now the head of New Zealand event and commercial director at SailGP. Last week it was announced that New Zealand would be on the SailGP calendar from 2023, with it alternating between Christchurch and Auckland and he revealed just how quickly SailGP is expanding. “From early on, that was something I communicated with Christchurch and Auckland,” Budge said. “There’s work to be done on it, but I want inner harbour racing,” Budge said. “We want this to be far easier to access, so for me, that’s far closer than what we saw this year.
