Russia on Monday admitted that its coronavirus death toll was more than three times higher than it had previously reported, making it the country with the third-largest number of fatalities in the world. This admission is contrary to claims made by President Vladimir Putin about Russia's low fatality rate from the virus. Russia recorded 27,787 more Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, down from 28,284 a day earlier, the country's coronavirus response centre said on Monday. Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported 6,253 new cases over the past day, taking the city`s total caseload to 792,457. Total recoveries count 2,471,309 after 20,480 people were discharged from hospitals over the past day, down from 24,390 the day before.
