The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, the Begum Rokeya Foundation, and other socio-cultural and political organizations have chalked out elaborate events to mark the day, reports UNB. On the occasion, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages paying tribute to Begum Rokeya. Begum Rokeya Shakhawat Hossain was born on December 9, 1880 at Pairaband village in Rangpur.
