Rohingya crisis: IOM to compensate 300,000 Cox’s Bazar locals

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has declared to compensate 300,000 local residents of Cox’s Bazar district in Bangladesh who have had to experience difficulties due to the mass influx of Rohingya refugees in the past three months. The Inter-Sector Coordination Group (ISCG) Senior Coordinator Julie Belanger made the declaration at a press conference held at the IOM’s Cox’s Bazar office on Monday. Some 626,000 Rohingya refugees have entered Bangladesh since August 25 this year, she said. Representatives from all foreign NGOs operating in the Rohingya camps were present during the press conference. They also said the international NGOs would continue their support as long as the government continues pursuing their support.
