Concert for Ducsu held at Dhaka University

Students of Dhaka University organised a concert on Monday evening demanding Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) polls at the institution’s Memory Eternal premises, where a former post-graduate student – Walid Ashraf – has been continuing his hunger strike for the ninth consecutive day. Students from different departments of the university and different band groups had participated in the concert to express solidarity with the ongoing movement. While addressing at the event, teacher of Dhaka University’s Sociology department Samina Luthfa said there was no alternative to the university’s central student union to ensure a democratic environment on the campus. “As a teacher of the university, I want immediate Ducsu polls to make all the stakeholders of the university accountable,” Samina added. Earlier on November 25, Walid Ashraf who completed his masters’ degree from Social Welfare and Research Institute, went on hunger strike demanding Ducsu polls be held before December 16.
