Rising NHS waiting lists are driving more people to self-fund their treatment, according to the latest research from LaingBuisson. The fourth edition of LaingBuisson’s Private Healthcare Self-Pay UK Market Report, published today, shows NHS waiting lists are the most commonly cited reason for the increased interest in self-pay. Some private hospital groups have harmonised pricing across the UK while some NHS private patient units are making information and prices more visible. Just over 55% of respondents surveyed for the report anticipate that the self-pay market will grow by 10-15% over the next three years. Since those waiting lists are not falling, we would expect demand to be sustained as people seek to access treatment.
