The Queen Charlotte Drive, from Picton to Linkwater, will reopen on Thursday weather-permittingA major stretch of flood-damaged road in the Marlborough Sounds is set to reopen this week. The Marlborough District Council led a convoy to the Queen Charlotte Drive and the start of the Kenepuru Rd on Tuesday. Marlborough Roads manager Steve Murrin said contractors had removed a total of 20,000 cubic metres of slip from the Queen Charlotte Drive, Kenepuru Rd and Kaiuma Bay Rd. “About 40 trucks, 25 diggers and four bulldozers are used relentlessly to remove spoil and clear the Queen Charlotte Drive,” Murrin said.
