PENAMPANG: The locals here came out in droves this weekend for the district-level Pesta Rakit (raft festival) held at the Kampung Terawi jetty here. The festival, in a bid to promote love for rivers, included various rafting activities. It drew in the communities around Sungai Moyog, who not only visited booths promoting environmental activities which protect rivers. “The issue lies with human activities, especially industrial waste besides rubbish dumping, domestic sewage and effluent from mills, among others. Masidi assured the people that the government will continue to provide support needed for such activities to bring people closer to nature.
