Power has been restored in Tawa after a felled tree reportedly took out a power line. More than 5000 homes had been without power in the Wellington suburb after the outage on Sunday afternoon. A Tawa resident said the outage occurred after a macrocarpa tree came down on a power line as it was being cut by a resident on Takapu Rd. A Wellington Electricity spokesman confirmed the felled tree was the cause of the outage but could not say what type of tree it was.
