CA has acquired 29 RFID systems which have been installed in 21 postal offices in the project which will cover all the post offices across countrywide in the long run. The authority sourced the system through the Universal Postal Union in a $97,237 (Sh9.9 million) tender on May 8, 2014. The Postal Corporation of Kenya risks fines of up to Sh500,000 million if it fails to deliver mails on time among other standards, the regulator warned yesterday after launching an Automated Mail Quality Measurement system. CA chairman Ngene Gituku said the system will help stimulate growth of e-commerce in the country. That gives us an indication on how quickly the letters are dispatched and if they meet the standards that we have set,” Communications Authority of Kenya director general Francis Wangusi said.
