LABUAN: Police yesterday thwarted an attempt to smuggle RM450,000 worth of syabu via Labuan Airport here, yesterday. Upon inspection, 6.2kg of syabu in six packages was found in his luggage. Labuan deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani said the man was from Sibu, Sarawak. However, Ibrahim declined to reveal where the man had boarded his flight before arriving here. The case was being probed under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1953, which carries a mandatory death penalty if convicted.
