MACC arrests 69-year-old-man to help in Gatco land scam

PORT DICKSON: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested a man today to help in its investigations into a land scam involving Great Alonioners Trading Corp (Gatco). MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkilfi Ahmad said the man, 69, was arrested when he went to give his statement at the commission's office in Putrajaya at 5pm. "He is a liquidator by profession and we will update you (the Press) if there is anymore arrest in the future," Dzulkilfi told reporters here at “Kembara Jelajah Anti Rasuah 2017” programme. The commission set up a special task force earlier this month to probe corruption claims made by a group of settlers who had invested in a 2,000ha land scheme under Gatco in 1977 in Jempol. Subsequently, MACC conducted raids at several locations simultaneously in Petaling Jaya which included Thamarai Holdings, the National Union of Plantation Workers and a lawyer's office in Plaza Pengkalan in Jalan Tiong.
