The police ban on the Sunday rally planned by the Hong Kong Journalists Association over the arrest and prosecution of RTHK producer Bao Choy has been overturned by an appeals board. Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung Kin-chung will have the final say for Sunday's rally, and if he gave the green light it will be the first approved protest for many months in Hong Kong. The event is scheduled to take place on Hong Kong Island on Sunday. The searches were part of the public broadcaster's attempts to trace the perpetrators of the July 21 Yuen Long mob attack. The HKJA described the police's action against Choy as "shocking" and said the authorities are “exhausting every possible means” to make life difficult for journalists in Hong Kong.
