Police: Man hadn't snatched bangle

Our Special CorrespondentAbhro DasSovabazar: Police have cleared Maheshtala resident Abhro Ghosh of all charges, including that of snatching the bangle of a woman outside Sovabazar Metro station on December 27. Ranabir Das, a traffic sergeant with Jorabagan traffic guard, had claimed he was alerted by a woman's screams for help saying a man had snatched her bangle. Asima Kundu, 45, was standing with her daughter outside the Metro station and when Das arrived, she pointed at a man who, she believed, had snatched her bangle. As I stepped out of the Metro station, two women started pulling at my shirt from behind while shouting I had snatched a bangle. Ghosh said he had tried reason with the sergeant saying he probably mistook him for somebody else and that he hadn't snatched any bangle.
