Placido Domingo announced on Wednesday that he was resigning from his role as director of the Los Angeles Opera and withdrawing from all future performances. He continued: 'I do so with a heavy heart and at the same time wish to convey to the company’s dedicated board and hard-working staff my deepest wishes that the L.A. Opera continue to grow and excel.' During its inquiry, LA Opera had removed Domingo from day-to-day operations as general director. That investigation was being led by Debra Wong Yang, a former U.S. attorney and Los Angeles County Superior Court judge, now a partner at the law firm of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher. Domingo's career will be now likely be centered in Europe, where the accusations of harassment have not hurt him professionally.
