The ceremony was held at 11:45 pm while it was raining. The flowers were placed on the royal funeral pyre, which was then lit by the governor with a lamp donated by His Majesty King Mahavajiralongkorn. Government officials, the army, police and members of the public at the Royal Crematorium replica took turns to place the flowers into the fire. The ashes were then kept in a royal urn replica to be floated on the Kwan Phayao Lake opposite a replica of the Royal Crematorium later Friday.
