KUALA LUMPUR: The "new view" to allow a Muslim child conceived out of wedlock to take the father's name would legitimise adultery, said the Perak mufti (pix). Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria said this view goes against the teachings in the Quran, hadith, and ijmak ulamak (consensus decision by ulamak worldwide). I hope some ulamak will be careful as the matter has been decided thousands of years ago based on the Quran and hadith. The NRD said, however, the current system of registering a Muslim child born out of wedlock will continue. "The decision of the Court of Appeal is insulting to Islam, the Federal Constitution and fatwa.
