Rabies outbreak: Federal govt to send 20 more VSD officers to assist Sarawak


BAU: The federal government will continue to assist Sarawak in its effort to contain the rabies outbreak which was first detected in Serian district in June. Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said 20 officers from the Veterinary Services Department will be deployed to the state to assist the state government. So, we will be sending between 10 to 20 officers from the Peninsula to assist the state in eliminating the virus," he said. On the stray dogs captured by the local councils, he said the animals would be culled. "To date, a total of 577 stray dogs from 22 rabies-affected areas had been culled," he said.
