Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters in April that PayPal would launch its operations in Bangladesh soon. The online payment service has enabled nearly 200 million individuals and businesses to transfer funds electronically since its launch in the US in December 1998. In Bangladesh, PayPal will particularly be useful to around 550,000 freelancers and about 700 e-commerce websites, sources said. I use a PayPal account in the US, which is maintained by a US citizen. If I had a PayPal account here, I would not have faced this problem.
