The select committee co-chaired by senators Kiraitu Murungi (Meru) and James Orengo (Siaya) held its second meeting yesterday. The Justice and Legal Affairs chaired by Ainabkoi MP Samuel Chepkonga is probing IEBC commissioners following a petition filed by Nyukuri Barasa. The select committee is worried its work may be interfered with if Chepkonga’s committee tables a separate report in Parliament regarding grounds for removal of the IEBC bosses. A joint parliamentary select committee looking into electoral reforms wants Cord and Jubilee leaders to intervene in a possible clash with the National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee. The select committee said the House team may interfere wth its work.
