With Morea (53 off 65) and Vala (69 not out off 70 balls) then coming good, PNG reached its target comfortably. Chad Soper’s five-wicket haul, and half-centuries from Assad Vala and Vani Morea led Papua New Guinea to a six-wicket win over Kenya in their World Cricket League Championship match at Port Moresby. Mahuru Dai also chipped in with a 44-ball 27 that bought PNG closer to the target after Morea and Sese Bau had fallen in succession. The two sides lock horn again today in the second match of the 2019 World Cup qualifying round. The win meant PNG tasted success in the first ever ICC match held at their homeground, reaching 191 for 4 in 34.3 overs after Kenya had been bowled out for 188 in 47 overs.
