PKR man says beer festivals should not be approved in Malaysia - Nation

PETALING JAYA: Beer festivals in Malaysia should not be given the green light from the very beginning, said a PKR leader. Deputy chairman of PKR's religious strengthening and understanding bureau Amidi Abdul Manan said Malaysia should not approve beer festivals. He said that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) should not have waited for protests before calling off the controversial festival, but praised them for deciding to do so. A group representing 25 NGOs in Selangor staged a protest against the beer festival and a gay-themed party at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque on Saturday. Initially, the Better Beer Festival 2017 was to be held on Oct 6 and 7 at Publika Shopping Gallery in Kuala Lumpur but DBKL rejected the application, citing security concerns.
