THE country’s tourism industry welcomed 8.26 million foreign visitors last year, a 15.24-percent increase from the 7.16 million arrivals recorded in 2018. “This heralds a new milestone in the country’s tourism history, breaching the eight-millionth mark. South Koreans remained on top in the most number of tourist arrivals in the country, recording 1.989 million arrivals last year, a 22.48-percent increase from the 1.624 million in 2018. Meanwhile, the month of December recorded the highest tourist arrivals at 776,798. It continued with their “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign last year, alongside championing for sustainable tourism in the country.
